Maureen Smart (Mima)

Mima Smart (also known as Maureen Smart) is an Anangu woman who was born in 1956 in Penong, SA. She was raised and still lives in Yalata, SA where she works at the Yalata Anangu School as an Aboriginal Education worker.
Smart is a respected member of the Yalata community and the broader South Australian community. She sits on the Management Board of the Government of South Australia’s, Alinytjara Wilurara Natural Resources group. She is also a member of the Ceduna Aboriginal Arts and Cultural Centre, and it is through this group that she had the opportunity to exhibit her work at the Adelaide Festival Centre’s 2008 Our Mob exhibition. Mima also practices traditional bush medicine making and trips on country, travelling for meetings she enjoys her input. Smart lives and works in Yalata.
