Nancy Lawrie started painting when she was on the CDEP program at the Ceduna Aboriginal Arts & Culture Centre in 2002. Nancy attended her schooling in both Ceduna and Adelaide, Nancy currently lives in Adelaide.
Her grandparents are Mirning who where from the country around the Head of Bight, Ooldea and further West of Kalgoorlie. The Head of Bight has influenced my paintings through my connection to this country and the birthing place of the whales. The vast Nullabour plain has played a significant part in my culture through the stories that have been passed down through my ancestors.
